Mid-year book freak out tag π± 2021
Don't freak out, but it's the middle of the year. π± π
Note: re-reads are not included.
I always find it impossible to narrow this down, but here are my top 6 of 2021 so far:
The Remarkable Journey Of Coyote Sunrise - Dan Gemeinhart
All The Impossible Things - Lindsay Lackey
Brown Girl Dreaming - Jacqueline Woodson
A Pinch Of Magic - Michelle Harrison
The Unadoptables - Hana Tooke
Starfish - Lisa Fipps
What is the best sequel you have read so far this year?
I don’t often read series, so it's pretty rare that I read the 2nd book in a series.
I have only read 1 sequel so far this year, which is Exile Keeper Of The Lost Cities #2. I do talk about it in my review of the first Keeper of the Lost Cities (link towards the end of this post).
A new release that you haven’t read yet but want to -
Glitter Gets Everywhere - by Yvette Clark
Most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
I don’t really keep up with release dates.
(But does Red Taylor’s Version count?! π - I’m a HUGE Swiftie)
Biggest Disappointment -
Keeper Of The Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger
The Good Thieves by Katherine Rundell
Brightstorm - by Vashti Hardy
Biggest surprise -
Wizards Of Once - by Cressida Cowell
(review coming soon!)
New favourite author -
This is really weird - but I don’t think I have read 2 books by the same author this year!
I did read the first 2 KOTLC books (who are by the same author) - but those definitely weren’t my favourite!
Though I am looking forward to reading more by B.B. Alston author of Amari and the Night Brothers (review coming soon!)
And more from Lisa Fipps, the author of Starfish.
Newest fictional crush -
I don’t really crush on characters in books!
There is Jason Grace and Percy Jackson - but they are from the first times I read Rick Riordan’s books a few of years ago.
Newest favourite character -
Amari from Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston (review coming soon!)
Wish from Wizards of Once by Cressida Cowell (review coming soon!)
Coyote from The Remarkable Journey Of Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemeinhart.
Book that made me cry -
Ok, I don’t think I’ve ever physically cried while reading, I have laughed or gasped or muttered something under my breath - but not really cried. So these are the books that made me cry (on the inside) -
All The Impossible Things - by Lindsay Lackey
Brown Girl Dreaming - Jacqueline Woodson
Starfish - Lisa Fipps
Book that made me happy -
The Book of Hopes - edited by Katherine Rundell
I Swapped my brother on the internet - by Jo Simmons
New Kid - by Jerry Craft
The Shape Of Ideas - Grant Snider
What is the most beautiful book you got this year? (and read)
The Unadoptables (I have pictures of it in my review - it is GORGEOUS. I am so obsessed.)
A Pinch of Magic - Michelle Harrison (soooooooo amazing!)
What book do you want to read before the end of the year?
