12-year-old Cici has lived in Taiwan all her life and now suddenly her parents are moving to Seattle in America and it is breaking Cici’s heart that she will have to leave A-ma (her grandmother) behind. When Cici spots a flier for a kids cooking competition with a big cash prize she gets an idea to enrol and try to win because with the money she can buy a plane ticket for her grandmother to come to America for her 70th birthday. The book then follows Cici trying to win the competition, making new friends, and cooking some delicious food. About the Authors: Lily LaMotte graduated from Hamline's Writing for Children and Young Adults program with an MFIA.
