Delhi: A Love Letter

This is a poem I wrote about my favourite city, Delhi.

Forever winter,
Forever summer,
Forever intoxicating, frustrating, complicated 
Led astray by some mistake. 

Blue, grey,

Purple, pink skies that fade to orange,

City lights that keep me up,

Daylight, daylight.

Glorious rain,

Comes pouring down,

All at once, I have been waiting,

Isn't it just so pretty?

Evil and good,

Happy and sad,

Basic and complicated.

Easy and hard,

Stoic and emotional,

Everything happens so fast.

Come one, come all,

Let the bliss begin,

Blink when you feel it kicking in,

One for all and all for one.

Forget the pain,

Some dance to remember,

Are you forgetting?

Tourists, Monuments,

Politics, Government,

We didn't start it, you did,

Independence Day,

Republic Day Parade,

Home is where the heart is.

They did it, she did it, he did it, I did it,

Sometimes it's so loud, busy, bustling city,

But a constant - a pretty, loud, happy, glorious - constant in life,

Just so gorgeous.

The good, bad and the ugly,

I have been waiting,

I am happy. I am free. I am home.

Starry eyes sparking up my darkest nights.
