Middle Grade March - Read-a-thon

I did not know about this until a few days ago - and now I am determined to take part and complete all the points of the challenge.

Middle Grade March (this is the 4th year of it happening) is a month long read-a-thon, and takes place (obviously) throughout the month of March.

It is hosted by 3 booktubers -

  • Life Between Words
  • Books and Jams
  • The Curly Reader
You can visit their channels to find out more about this, they have announcement videos, recommended reads for Middle Grade March, and the books they are planning on reading. There are also multiple other videos and websites recommending books specifically for this.

If you read even just 1 middle grade book during this month, you have succeeded in participating.

In case you did not know, middle grade books are targeted at the audience of 8-12 or 13 year olds and are usually about a character within that age range.

Of course, these are basically all the books I am currently reading so I will be using the 5 prompts that the hosts have come up with, and if you read middle grade a lot and want more of a challenge yourself you can refer to this list too:

  1. Read a book with a silhouette on the cover
  2. Read a book with a strong family element
  3. Read a book featuring travel or adventure or a journey story
  4. Read a fairytale retelling or a book that has fairytale elements
  5. Read a book published/written/set in the decade you were born in
Here are some of my reccomendations based on the prompts:

A book with a silhouette on the cover: Pages & Co. : Tilly and the BookWanderers - by Anna James
A book with a strong family element: The List of things that will not change - Rebbeca Stead
A book featuring travel or adventure or a journey story: The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise - by Dan Gemeinhart
A fairytale retelling: The Land of Stories Book 1 - The Wishing Spell - by Chris Colfer

Throughout the next month, I will post about specific books I enjoyed from these prompts and at the end of March all the books I read.

Happy Reading!
